Toilet Bound Hanako-kun Unveils New 2nd Season Visual Featuring Hanako & Nene
A new key visual has been unveiled for the upcoming second season of Toilet Bound Hanako-kun, spotlighting the lead character Hanako and the main heroine, Nene Yashiro. The anime series is scheduled to return to broadcast in Japan in January 2025.
Season two will be directed by Yohei Fukui (Bakugan: Evolutions assistant director, Toilet Bound Hanako-kun Episode 10 director), with Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun) as series screenwriter and Mayuka Ito (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun) as character designer. Lerche is handling the animation production once again.

The second season of Toilet Bound Hanako-kun and the spinoff short anime series After-school Hanako-kun are part of a new Hanako-kun project that was first announced in December 2022. The first season of Toilet Bound Hanako-kun aired in 2020 and ran for 12 episodes.
The first season of After-school Hanako-kun consisted of four 10-minute episodes that aired in 2023. The short series’ second season began airing another four episodes on October 7, 2024.
The anime is based on the manga by creative duo AidaIro (consisting of writer Iro and illustrator Aida) that began serialization on Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine on June 18, 2014. Twenty-two tankobon volumes have been released as of July 2024. The After-school Hanako-kun manga debuted in 2018 and has released two tankobons as of February 2024. Yen Press releases both manga series in English for North America.
